Vintage Hill Tribe textiles
Contact us if you are interested in buying and we will send photos of some of our stock.
This fabric has bee reclaimed from vintage skirts from the Hmong Hill Tribe people. The designs are all hand drawn with a batik wax pen and then dyed with natural indigo. The fabric may have been dyed many times to get the desired depth of colour.
hemp fabric was hand woven on a back strap loom which means that it's
width is restricted to about 30 cm wide. The length of the hemp batik
fabric rolls that we stock is typically 5 meters which when pleated is
the length needed to go around a skirt.
